About the author

My name is Kamila Kowalska. I am an assistant professor at the Institute of Political Science
at the University of Gdańsk. I have a degree in Law and International Relations from the
University of Wrocław and a postgraduate degree in Migration and Exile from the Sapienza
University of Rome. I got my PhD in Political Science and Administration at the Institute of
Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw. I have been researching migrations for more than two decades. I am a member of the Political Migration Analysis Team of the Committee on Migration Research of the Polish Academy of Science, a member of the Migration Observatory at the University of Gdańsk, and of the
Scientific Board of the “Polish Migration Review” journal. I also cooperate with the Center
of Migration Research at the University of Warsaw. I am interested in topics concerning
politics of migration, integration and diasporas, migrations of highly-qualified workers and
women, and the migrant entrepreneurship/resourcefulness. Multiculturalism, social inclusion of migrants, and the broadly defined term of mobility are also a part of my personal experience, as I have spent more than 20 years outside of Poland.
